Looking back and forward

Despite its many challenges, 2021 has been an important year for the Effing Foundation. In 2021, we named a new executive director (me!); saw our founder, Dr. Kit Stubbs, transition into the role of Board President; and welcomed new Advisory Council and Board members. All of these changes have allowed Effing to build on our previous work while expanding and scaling the Foundation for the future. 

This year, Effing has grown as an organization and successfully resumed our grant cycle after a year-long hiatus due to the pandemic. We’ve extended our reach over social media, advocated for sex-positivity through virtual engagements, and seen our fiscally-sponsored partner, The HEAL Project, experience exponential growth. All things considered, all of us at Effing have a great deal to be grateful for.

Looking forward to 2022, Effing can anticipate some amazing possibilities. On March 31, 2022, we’ll announce the grant recipients for the 2021-2022 cycle. This class of recipients will receive $5,000 grants to support their sex-positive art and/or education projects. We have some exceptional projects that were submitted this year, and we truly can’t wait to support and elevate the work of these exceptional humans.

On September 1, 2022, the Effing Foundation 2022-2023 Grant Cycle will officially begin accepting applications. Throughout the spring and summer, Effing will provide lots of information about our grant application process for anyone who may be interested in learning more about the process. Earlier, I spoke about gratitude. All of us at the Effing Foundation are profoundly grateful for the support our community provides for us and our mission. Thank you  to everyone who applied for an Effing grant this year. Thank you to our previous grant recipients, who have continued your work despite the challenges of the past 21 months. Thank you to our Board members for providing the guidance that directs Effing’s mission. Thank you to the Advisory Council, whose expertise and labor is the backbone of the grant cycle. I’d be remiss if I didn’t also thank our Administrator, Li, who makes the day-to-day operations of the Effing Foundation seamless.

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who supported Effing this year with your donations. Your support of our mission directly allows us to continue supporting sex-positive artists and educators while giving voice to traditionally marginalized communities.
